I'm just getting started on this blogging thing, so I need to develop my skills for adding buttons and links.  I didn't want to leave this out, so here it is now.

Really the New Year now!

Will I ever get this started?  Now's as good a time as any, not quite the first day of the year, but today I really feel like 2010 has started.  Why?  Because my outside Christmas lights are down and I am getting ready for an annual excursion to Road to California, the "biggest quilt show" in Southern CA and like a school kid returning after Christmas vacation this event marks the beginning of the year for me.

About the title of the blog, I live in northern Arizona at 7,000 ft. altitude.  Up here we tend to blame lots of things on the altitude--baking disasters, cooking problems in general, dry skin, dehydration, sunburn, lack of energy, etc.  When things go awry, it's easy to say, "It's the altitude!"  To clarify, baking and cooking are different up here and I'll post about that at times.  You do sunburn easily and your skin dries out at high altitude.  When visitors come from lower altitude they are affected by dehydration and lack of energy--the oxygen is a bit scarcer.  Those of us who live here drink lots of water and, I for one, never lack for energy--I grew up in high altitude, though not this high, and apparently that helps you adapt faster.

I just discovered this blog,  The Simple Woman's Daybook, with its suggestion to post as follows on a Monday, so here goes:
